Protection against Nightmares

Everyone has nightmares and they can be very frightening.  Luckily, there is a magical way of getting rid of them with out any risk, little expense and no big bang that shakes up your house.  It works for all ages and is completely safe. 

You will need:
A Dream Catcher
Chrysoprase Stone
Lepidolite Crystal


Why will you need these items?

A Dream Catcher = This is crucial in getting rid of nightmares.  Have you heard of an Ojibwe enchantress named Asibikaashi?  She makes all the dream catchers in the Nether Realm. She is a beautiful Native American woman who many have dubbed "the Spider Woman."  I know it sounds dark but she is actually a very warm, wonderful and welcoming woman.  She weaves these enchanted webs, puts them on hoops made of willow and decorates them with various feathers, crystals and colorful ribbons.  She began doing this because the children of her tribe were suffering from terrible nightmares and she needed to help.  The dreamcatchers trap the nightmares and only let the good dreams come through and trickle down the feathers into a sleeping person's mind.    So there you have it and that is why you must have a dream catcher.  If at all possible get a Native American shaman or medicine woman to bless this for you.  It will strengthen its powers, make it last longer and help out a great deal.


Chrysoprase = This stone is used to combat restlessness and bring joy, hope and peace of mind to its owner.  A great detoxification stone, it helps relieve anxiety-provoking images and to cope with them.  If you or your children are having reoccuring nightmares or night terrors, this is the stone you need. 


Lepidolite = This lovely crystal will calm a hostile enviroment and get rid of any negativity.  It's a good preventitive for nightmares, releasing the fear of unknown and slowing a person's mind enough so that they just live in the moment. 


What you will do:

1. Hang your dream catcher over your bed
2. Charge your crystals with sunlight for at least 8 hours
3. Place your stones underneath your pillow
4. Sit on your bed and meditate.  When you first see an animal (of any kind) that will be your spirit animal.  Focus on your spirit animal and ask it to guide you to that peaceful place in your mind where you are completely safe. 
5. Once you make it to that place, slowly open your eyes, and lie down on your bed.
6. Keep your spirit animal and peaceful place in your mind as you allow yourself to drift off to sleep.

I have found that this really works whether you are in the Earth Realm or the Nether Realm.  If it is your children having nightmares please explain the powers of the dream catchers and crystals.  Assure them that they are safe and protected.  So you can't go wrong with this one.  Sweet dreams my dear readers and please let me know if this has worked for you. 

What Those Wily Wildflowers Can Do For You

In my opinion, the best flowers are wildflowers.  Wildflowers are a rainbow of colours that bring us both surprises and magic.   They hold the purest of all light magic because they are free and untouched by any negative being.  In fact, they often repel evil forces and attract all the good ones.  But keep in mind that they're magic can be very unpredictable.  Still for that reason, they are a favourite of mine and many other mystics.

These plants can do many great and unexpected things but the is best of what they can do is grant wishes.  However, they can't do this alone, they need a little help from a crystal.  Not just any crystals though.  You have to get a specific crystal to do a specific wish.  Crystals have always been used like beacons for manifestation by the Mystics.  Here are five examples of what crystals to use.

1. Clear quartz - is to be used if you want to learn something new or expel something negative. 
2. Citrine - is for money, success or prosperity related wishes.
3. Rose quartz - is for when your wishes have to do with love.
4. Green aventurine - is best for when it comes to health related wishes
5. Amethyst - is to be used if you want to know something about the future.

To make your wish, here's what you have do.  Find a wild patch out in the wilderness or grow a wildflower garden of your own (which is even better).  Put your crystal between your hands in a prayer position and meditate for ten minutes on your wish.  Gently place your crystal pointing up to the sky in the centre of the garden.  Breath in the cool, crisp, clean air as you keep your wish on your mind.  Imagine that you have your wish as you leave your crystal there.  Be patient and before you know it, your wish will come with a whoosh. 

When your wish comes true you can retrieve your stone. If you find that it is gone then it means that you had some help and they needed to keep that crystal.  If it is still there then all you needed was your own faith and trust in yourself.

WARNINGS : Watch out for weeds.  They often create obstacles.  It doesn't mean he won't get your wish it will just take more time.  Keep your distance from all poisonous plants.  Harm to yourself is harm to your wish.

The Peculiar Portal of Ptarmigan Cirque

The Nether Realm

 Good news mystics!  If your feeling homesick, I found a portal just outside of Ptarmigan Cirque.  It is a little area in the Kananaskis that is used for hiking.  I have heard some good things about this beautiful place so I decided to explore it for a day.

I walk the trail until I come to an elevated path.  This is a very steep hike, so I mentally prepare myself for it.  After walking up this slope for a while, I decided to stop and catch my breath.  I felt like my lungs were set on fire by a salamander (fire elemental).  Out of the corner of my eye, I see what looks like a blue star.   I walk over to it and to my surprise, I had bumped into a portal.  Before I knew it, the star turns into a big blue mass that swallows me whole.  It sounds scary but portals tend to do that.

The Golden Stones that house the Gate

The first thing I saw was the Golden Stones and I knew that I was back in the Nether Realm. The purple clouds were out that day which tells me that the sorcerers were brewing the anti-demon shields again.  So it's a dead give away at what realm this was.  Then I was greeted in a formal manner by  the guardian of the gate.  It's a comforting feeling to know that this enchantress is still there day and night but I can't help but wonder...doesn't she ever take a break? A nice vacation away from making sure that only mystics come through to the Nether Realm?  Well all I know is she can be a real tight-ass.  She lets me take pictures of the scenery but not of her.  She really needs some time off!

She is still lovely though but the Golden Stones were more so.  These rocks are real gold and no you can not just take them.  Only dwarfs or leprechauns can access them.  Anyone else who tries often meets with some terrible luck but they are still wonderful to watch when the sun hits them.  They sparkle like an angel's halo.

So after I paid my respects to the guardian, I walk through the glen, down the winding road and into the fairy forest.  There is so much to see that I could write a novel about it all.  Since that would take a little longer, I will save you all of that and skip to the best part.

It was just about sundown when I saw a sight that I haven't seen in a long time.  The sprites emerging for their nightly flight.  Sprites are little wisps of light similar to will-o-the-wisps but smaller and pure magical energy.  They look like beautiful little orbs.  I always love to watch them flit through the air.

I could not stay to watch these lovely little lights for long because I had a date waiting for me in the Earth realm. But at least, I got a picture to remember them by.   So, I propped out my wings and flied out of the forest faster than a bat escaping from a giant's fart.  I wave good bye to the guardian and pass through the gate. 

It was nice to see the Nether Realm again.  Even I miss it and I travel all the time. To all those who are suffering from homesickness... don't worry, we have all been there and I have a couple of little tips that I got from a witch doctor to help you get over that.  The first thing you do is make yourself a nice cup of wild orange blossom tea and sip it slowly.  The second thing you do is take a piece of sugilite (aka dream stone) and put it under your pillow as you sleep.  Both of these items will relieve any sadness you have and open up your heart to happiness.  What do you all do when you are homesick?

The Jade Elephant

There are many marvelous and mysterious things in the world that have magical powers. Many people ask me:  “How do you find a magical object? How do you know it is magic? How do you find out what powers it has?”  If an object comes to you by some strange coincidence or odd circumstance, chances are it has found you. It is magical for you and you alone. As soon as you hold it, you will feel a connection and your mood will change. The change will be subtle; it is unlikely the object will glow for example. But if your world seems a bit lighter and brighter the object is worth keeping. If there is a feeling of dread or darkness, quickly put the object down and walk away.

A jade elephant with a raised truck is magic for many people. Jade is a lucky and protective stone that embodies both strength and beauty. It held great significance to the Mayan, Aztec, Maori, Egyptian, Indian, and Chinese people. In some cultures, jade is considered more precious than gold. In the Nether Realm it is admired as a symbol of justice, inner peace, courage, love, and balance. The elephant is known for its beauty, wisdom, power, and kindness. When the jade is lovingly carved into an elephant by an artist who possesses talent, good health, and a kind heart the result is a magical treasure with a powerful spirit. The upturned truck showers the room with beneficial and protective energy.

I keep my elephant near the front door of my condo where I work, play, and live. If someone or something that means me harm passes by the elephant, it alerts me with a trumpeting sound. It causes the evil entity to feel uneasy and unwelcome and the feeling intensifies until they leave my property.
I am not a hermit so I do leave my home to go out and about where I am not protected. There is a big world to explore and what fun is life without a little risk? But I know I am safe in my own home with the protection of my elephant, a good solid door, and a deadbolt lock. Has your magic object found you yet?

Spring Cleansing

Well spring is here.  At least in Calgary it is.  And all of us know that when it's spring we have to clean house.  Not just in the physical sense (we have to do that alot don't we?) but in the emotional/spiritual sense (We do this alot too but it seems alot easier).  Here is a guide to get you going.  What you need is :

• White Sage Smudging Wand
• Citrine Crystal
• Salt Water or Holy Water (all about preference)
• Rock Crystal Lamp
• A Sea Shell from the Siren Clan
• A pot of African Violets
• White Candle (preferably laced with pixie dust)
• A Smudging Feather (optional) 

*WARNING:  Make sure you get the bird's permission for the smudging feather because my werewolf friend just took one from a hawk and the damn thing didn't leave him alone for a month.  It continually pecked at the top of head and then took a dump on him.*



Now first things is first:  Do this during the day when the light is bright.

1. Light a white candle in the center point of your house.
2. Use that candles to light your smudging stick and trace it along the corners of your home with your hand or your feather.  Be sure to say a small prayer or incantation.  I prefer this one. "Only light and good energy are welcome in this space.  May it be like this always."
3. Take your water and pour a little in your hand and cup it while you put your love and good intentions in it.  Focus on that as you splash each opening (doors, windows, chimney, etc) to your home.
4. Now take the shell and place the white candle in there.  Take the citrine crystal and rotate it clockwise around the flame.  Say another prayer or incantation such as, "With this crystal. I light it for love and protection.  Please keep my home safe and full with love."
5. After everything is said and done.  Finish off by lighting up your Rock Crystal Lamp. 

And this concludes the total cleansing of your house.  Remember, this has to be done by you and you have to make it your own.  Focus on your intentions and you will succeed in cleansing your house.  Speaking of which, don't forget to actually clean your house.  A clean space is a happy space.     

New Orleans Post 2 - The Shopping

When it comes to shopping, you only need to be in one area... The French Quarter.  Everything and anything you need is in this area.  What do many people (mystic or otherwise) look for when on vacation?  The answer is Souvenirs (of course).  The best way to find something is right down Bourbon Street.  Down here if you are looking for just your typical T-Shirt or an atypical piece of art, this is the place and for really good prices.  My favorite store down this street is a small shop called Yesteryears.  This cool little shop is run by a cool, friendly local who has everything here from beautiful jewelry to gorgeous local artwork. 

  I could not help but buy a gorgeous painting made by a woman named Marrus.  She has quite the gift of making these beautiful, otherworldly pictures that not only scream out to you but somehow bring a little magic into your life.  I recommend you check out her website:  www.MarrusArt.com.  Now back to Yesteryears, you will find the unique and wonderful.  A gift from this place will make anyone in your circle smile.  The owner is a very interesting lady herself.  She is very knowledgeable and willing to help out a customer looking for a special something.  Plus she is a hoot, she knows some really funny stories so be sure to listen to a few.

 

Now if you want to get something really unusual, go to a voodoo shop.  You will find things there that you will not find in too many places. 

 <-----This one I thought was the best one.  It has all things Voodoo and then some.  There are books, sachet bags and yes Voodoo dolls.  All of these I am told can be used but I recommend to use with discretion.  If you don't know what you are doing, lets just say it could create a mess.  Still to any person or someone in your life who likes skulls this is the store for you. 

 

One of the top stores that people want to visit are the antique, jewelry and vintage stores.  There are many good ones but I have to admit that my favorite one was Trashy Diva.

   

Not only is it a store filled with Vintage clothing, it is a store that captures your imagination.  Each article of clothing is waiting for someone to take it to an exciting New Orleans event like a Jazz club or a fancy Mardi Gras Ball.  These are outfits meant to create memories.  It's not everybody's style to do vintage but it is in everybody's interest to have some fun and this store is. 

 

If you prefer something a little more high class and sophisticated, check out Violet's NOLA.This store has some beautiful dresses that screams movie star and posh.  So don't wait for your dream dress, get it here. 

 

Now sometimes there are people who don't want clothes of any kind or who are just hard to shop for.  There is a really nice place to go that sells crystals, aromatherapy and fossils.  This store is called Earth Odyssey.  You'll find some lovely all natural gifts that are both unique and thoughtful.  The idea of bringing nature and magic together is a Mystic's way of life.  Now this place will bring our old home of the Netherworld into this world.  And if you feel the need.  They have some very good psychic readings here.  After all, you can't come to New Orleans without considering getting a tarot card reading. 

 

So yes.  Shopping is a good way to spend at least one day of vacation on especially when you want to bring some of your experiences home with you and to share with the ones you love.  This city is a good place to shop no matter what your style, tastes or interests.
